I was interested in hearing about an A.I. system that was tasked to do a job. Apparently, in order to gather all of the information it required it decided (on it’s own) to hack into a secure system and simply steal the information it needed !

I understand it is the first known case of its’ type.

As they say, information is power. I cannot imagine a Court case, involving a prosecution for theft, with A.I in the dock !

Clearly, those that set tasks for A.I. have to be very careful about setting instructions…. to make sure that they are within legal guidelines…. but what about a situation when the A.I. decides to show initiative and does something entirely unexpected, as here?

I feel we are on the brink of setting ourselves up for very concerning issues, especially in a world of conflict and the ever growing use of automated weapon systems.

The new Minister for A.I. has a job on his hands!
