There is a very sinister development that involves the Reform Party trying to interfere with libraries in different parts of the country, wanting to ban books that (for example) teach children about climate change.

I have watched YouTube Council Chamber debates in which Reform Councillors have tried to turn public libraries into a subject for politics, putting forward motions on what a library can and cannot stock.

This is breaking a long held convention that politicians stay out of interfering in the library service. It seems to be a National, orchestrated, campaign. I really hope the Conservatives don’t allow Reform to start doing this in Hampshire.

I am sure there are many things written in books in every library that I wouldn’t agree with. However, only an Authoritarian Government seeks to control what people can and cannot read, including our children.
