I have to say, I dislike the phrase “undeveloped land”… it implies that land has no value until somebody comes along with plans to cover it in tarmac and buildings.

It is central to the well being of human beings and indeed all of the other creatures that we share the planet with that we don’t see land as “undeveloped” but carefully consider the value that it has a natural space for life itself.

Human beings are almost hard wired to dominate the planet but I don’t believe it has to be this way. It worries me when I hear politicians assert that the planning system is so terrible and that it must be changed so that the needs of the economy can override all else.

Surely, there needs to be a balance between the needs of big business and that of the community and the environment ? I think happiness for all of us probably means getting the balance right, by making sure we all have access to those green spaces on our doorstep…. land you might describe as “undeveloped”…
