🚌Millions of people across England will qualify for free bus travel from August 1 under a new Government scheme.
👩👧From August 1, all young people aged from 5 to 15 will qualify for free bus travel in England. That covers 7.5million people.
🚍There is no registration, no forms to fill out, and no special app or physical pass required.
Eligible children can just hop on board the bus without paying a fare. While adults don’t qualify, single bus fares in England are currently capped at a maximum of £3.
The new “just hop on” rule applies across the rest of England’s participating local networks.
The scheme is part of the government’s Great British Summer Savings initiative, announced by Chancellor Rachel Reeves earlier this year. It will run until August 31.
Not every bus journey in England is covered with some companies choosing not to take part in some areas. Long-distance National Express coaches, tourist buses and private hire vehicles are not included.
The bus fare cap is currently in place until March next year.
