Another one of my occasional posts about nice places to visit that you may not know about. This is Steamer Point Nature reserve.

You will find it by visiting Mudeford… which is surely one of the best beaches along our southern coastline.

Park up and walk from one of the beach car parks, heading east, past the Noisy Lobster cafe and shop area. Walk past all the beach huts and along the coastal pathway underneath the cliffs, until you see a series of steep wooden steps that take you to the top of the cliff.

Take about ten minutes to recover. These are very steep, energy sapping, steps.

You will find yourself in the Steamer Point Nature reserve. It’s a pleasant shady area to walk around with ponds, trees and lots of wildlife to see. There are also walks off in different directions.

I walked back along the cliff top and down to the beach, where you can get refreshments and watch the world go by. It’s a very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.

For dog wakers – you are permitted now to let your dog on the beach (from October 1st).
