WHAT THE DOOR TELLS US……

This made me chuckle…. spotted whilst delivering election leaflets today.

However, it also makes a serious point that I have been thinking about for some time now.

I worked in the insurance industry, for a company that had small branch offices in most towns. Then, management decided that it would be better if they closed all the offices and conduct all the business in remote call centres…. big savings to be made !

Some banks and insurance companies went a stage further and outsourced the call centre function to India.

However, there has been a bit of pushback against this trend, with a lot of people attaching value to “local” access. The same is surely true when it comes to council services.

Government seems wedded to the idea that people will be entirely happy with a Council that will be more remote, with officers and Councillors who perhaps won’t know the geography, the history and all the querky things that define any particular place.

Do you always want “cheaper”…. or is quality also important to you ? If you have cause to complain…. who you gunna call ?
